Braun Silk Epil 3 Review

A tiny, inexpensive epilator for those women who just want to get things done, the Braun Silk Epil 3 is pretty straightforward. Its main feature is, guess what: to epilate!

One of the most cherished brands in the grooming market, Braun has created the Silk Epil 3 to help those with a lower budget.

Sure, this epilator lacks many functionalities that may be essential for many ladies out there, such as the possibility to be used cordless, under the shower, or more tweezers for faster epilation. However, all these features may be worth sacrificing for those who aren’t willing to pay $100 (or even $50!) in an epilating device.

Anyway! Let’s begin talking about the key features of the Braun Silk Epil 3 and move on to other details that make this epilator unique.

Key Features of Braun Silk Epil 3

First of all, we need to talk about how portable this epilator is! I know, it’s corded – but it is so tiny it fits inside a purse!

The white and purple colors are very sweet but extremely simple. And this word is the best to describe the Braun Silk Epil 3: Simple.

20-tweezer system

If you’re looking for epilators, you’re probably aware that they use tweezers to pluck the hairs from the skin by their roots.

The Braun Silk Epil 3 comes with 20 little tweezers that rotate and pass through the skin while opening and closing to remove the hairs.

This number is actually very small – one of the lowest I’ve seen. There is a Braun Silk Epil 5 model that has a very similar amount of tweezers (28), while the Silk Epil 7, one of the best out there, counts with 40 tweezers total.

With that said, I don’t think the 20 tweezers is that big of a downside. The Silk Epil 3 is a very low-priced epilator – it can’t possibly remove every hair in just one brush, right?

Soft-lip tip

This feature is very simple yet super useful. The Silk Epil 3 head features some bumps together with the tweezers, which help with raising those flat-laying hairs so that they can also be removed.

LOVE IT. The SmartLight is a feature we can find in most Braun epilators. It is a light built in the epilator’s body, which helps us see the fine hairs on the way.

This feature allows for better hair removal, and it’s extremely handy with blonde hairs.

Massage rollers

You can use the epilator with or without the massage rollers cap (I say it increases your pain tolerance).

The massage rollers rotate while you are epilating with the Silk Epil 3. This rotation distracts you from the plucking sensation that can be very uncomfortable and even painful for some.

2-speed settings

A nice addition in a low-priced epilator like the Braun Silk Epil 3. You’ll be able to use it on a lower speed setting (which is typically less painful), or in a faster speed setting.

– A Braun Epilator for a very low price – win-win, right?
– No attachments can be a blessing – no more clutter for the junk drawer.
– SmartLight feature.
– Massage rollers that allow for a little less painful epilation.
– Corded – as long as there is electrical energy in the house, you can epilate 24/7.
– Corded use only – no power, no smoothness D:
– Dry-use only, which for me, hurts the most (literally).
– Shape not very ergonomic – hard to hold for longer periods
– Only 20 tweezers, which means you’ll spend some extra time on the legs.

What’s in the Braun Silk Epil 3 box?

Braun Silk Epil 3 Epilator Boxed

The Braun Silk Epil 3 is a minimal epilator. With only three things included in the box, this product is the dream of all Marie Kondo fans out there.

  • Silk Epil 3 epilator with Massage Rollers cap
  • Charging adapter
  • Cleaning brush

Common questions and FAQs

Now it’s time for the common questions people may ask when looking at the Silk Epil 3 device.

Can it be used in the shower?

No! This epilator isn’t waterproof, so don’t try to use it in the shower.

If you’re looking for a wet and dry epilator, feel free to check other Braun options. Be aware, though, that they are all more expensive than the Silk Epil 3.

Can you do facial hair with it?

You can try, but I don’t recommend that you do. The head of the Braun Silk Epil 3 is very open, which means it doesn’t allow for epilating small, detailed areas.

I’d only recommend that you use this epilator in the legs, arms, and, maybe, underarms.

What is the battery life like?

It lasts forever!!! Haha, just kidding. Since this is a corded epilator, it doesn’t have a rechargeable battery – therefore, you are able to use it for hours non-stop.

Conclusion on this Braun Silk Epil 3 Review

The Braun Silk Epil 3 is the perfect first epilator! Not very complicated and no abundant attachments – sure, it has a lot of downsides. Hopefully this Braun Silk Epil 3 Review gives you both sides.

However, I feel that the ladies out there who are looking for an inexpensive, yet capable epilator will love this little lad. Hell, even I love it! And I have had my share of epilators before.

The two main downsides for me are that it’s not waterproof and that it is a bit slower and epilators with more tweezers. But if it doesn’t scare you, go for it! Or check a few other options, like the Braun Silk Epil 5 or the Philips Satinelle Essential, for example. Or, even jump up to the market leading Braun Silk Epil 9.
